A 41-year-old male patient, presented with pain over the low back region for 6 months associated with pain over the right shoulder region. He is a known case of Hypertension for 5 years and is on regular allopathic medication for the same. Prior to the ayurvedic consultation, he had joint pain in 2015 and 2019, wherein he took ayurvedic and allopathic treatment respectively and got relief. The patient now approached Dr Indu for better Ayurvedic management. Based on the lab investigations and the examination, the biomedical diagnosis was made as Hyperuricemia. Based on the clinical evaluation, the Ayurvedic diagnosis was made as Paittika vataraktam. The Vata shonita (vata rakta) cikitsa sutra was followed. With 2 weeks of Ayurvedic treatment, the pain reduced and the uric acid value also reduced. In one month the patient got relief from all the symptoms. The repeated blood investigation revealed uric acid level had reduced to 5.2, from 8.8 recorded at baseline. This case report demonstrates the successful integrative management of a chronic case of Hyperuricemia in a male patient, whose serum uric acid level did not reduce, in spite of taking conventional medicines.
