Prameha- Case 3
A 64 year old male patient was diagnosed with Diabetic mellitus during his regular health check-up. He was asymptomatic and had not take any prior treatments. The patient consulted Dr Tara, for Ayurvedic management of the condition. Based on the clinical evaluation and blood reports, the biomedical diagnosis was made as Type 2 DM, and the Ayurvedic diagnosis was made as Prameha. The line of treatment followed was Prameha hara, tridosa shamana and rasayana cikitsa. After undergoing two months of Ayurvedic treatment, along with diet, lifestyle modifications and pranayama, there was a significant reduction in his blood sugar levels. The FBS and PPBS recorded as 243 and 171.1 at baseline, reduced to 117.6 and 169.3 after 2 months. The patient is still continuing the medicines. This case report highlights the potential benefits of integrating Ayurvedic treatment with diet, lifestyle modifications and yoga practice, for managing blood sugar levels effectively, even in asymptomatic individuals.
